Tottenham Hotspur is an English professional football club located in London, England. The club was founded in 1882 under the name of Hotspur FC by schoolboys from a local cricket club, before changing the name two years later to Tottenham Hotspur FC to avoid confusion with another nearby club with a similar name. The club currently plays in the Premier League, the top-tier league in England. Tottenham is one of the most supported clubs in North London, and is the first English team to win both the European Cup Winners’ Cup and the UEFA Cup.
