Benfica is a Portuguese professional sports club located in Lisbon. The club was founded in 1904, and is mainly known for its football team, which currently plays in the Primeira Liga, the top-tier league in Portugal. The club is also one of the three founding members of the league that never suffered relegation, with the other teams being Porto and Sporting Lisbon. Benfica is the most decorated Portuguese football club in the domestic scene, and the second most successful Portuguese club in European football.
